Machinic Assemblages is a blog where a person, Ph D Niklas Hansson, writes about things that interests him. Often his thoughts wander off in directions that lead up towards continental philosophy, materialist ontology and ethnology. Niklas holds a Ph D in Ethnology at the Gothenburg University in Sweden and has written a thesis on Network Politics (http://gup.ub.gu.se/gup/record/index.xsql?pubid=73886) taking its que from a DeLandian or neo/Deleuzian approach towards studying Social Movements. Recently he has moved into studying Consumer Cultures, Ethical Consumption and Fairtrade. His main interest and reason for starting up Machinic Assemblages is to develop thoughts related to incorporating the work of Deleuze, DeLanda, Latour, Thrift, Massumi, and other allies in this area. And, importantly, the reason for this, is to develop and envelop these writers in the fields of ethnology, social science and cultural studies. His main concern in with the emprical sciences of ethnology, anthropology, and sociology of consumption, thus leaving the somewhat “abstract” cultural studies traditions aside most of the time.
